New Zealand women's cricket team won the Women's World Cup for the first time Sunday, beating South Africa by 32 runs in the final in St.
Kitts and Nevis.
It was all the more impressive considering New Zealand lost the 2010 final by three runs to Australia.
"I was inspired to be a White Fern watching that 2010 World Cup which Sophie was at," 24-year-old Amelia Kerr tells Stuff.co.nz.
"From that moment I was at the nets with my dad pretending I was batting with Sophie and Suzie."
Kerr top-scored with 43 and took 3-24 as New Zealand set South Africa 158 to win.
