Massachusetts School Takes New Approach to Classroom Behavior

"If kids are not emotionally regulated, if they don't feel safe, if they don't feel connected, there's no way we're going to teach them anything having to do with math or reading," a Massachusetts elementary school teacher tells WCVB.

That's why Farley Elementary in Hudson, Mass., is using a new approach to help students who are struggling with mental health issues.

Called "trauma-informed education," the program trains teachers to help students deal with trauma that can lead to disruptive behaviors in the classroom, the New York Daily News reports.
