Lccps Receives Grants to Bolster Middle School Science, Civics Curricula
LCCPS is receiving two grants to bolster its curriculum this fall.
One will be to create a more robust middle school science curriculum, while the other will introduce "Civic Engagement in our Democracy" for eighth grade students.
Student science scores have noticeably declined in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the new middle school curriculum is meant to be one step in reversing that.

Social Enterprise Is Re-Housing Unwanted Furniture
Weston Mill-based social enterprise Surplus Rescue CIC (Community Interest Company) recycles and finds homes for unwanted furniture. To date, it has received “extensive amounts” of quality second-hand furniture including desks, pedestals, cupboards and office chairs from a former local authority office equipment – and wants to find them a good home.
