From Oldham Roots, A Laureate Blooms

Kathleen Driskell, an Oldham County native, was recently named the 2025-2026 Kentucky Poet Laureate.

She will be inducted on April 24 at 10 a.m.

in the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort.

"I didn't grow up in a book rich home, a€œ but when we moved, my aunts would come to visit my grandmother a& #128; ” I have lots of aunts and once or twice a year they would make a big meal," she said.
